Innovative MAN Roland Technology in China

It’s been a good year 2006 for MAN Roland Greater China! In particular, the sales in the MAN Roland family are excellent and have demonstrated a tremendous growth potential. Three of the best printing companies in Greater China - Suzhou Dongyi Packaging Printing, Zhejiang Sanli Printing and Shenzhen Hua Yang Printing - have installed new MAN Roland presses to place their companies on the leading edge of the competitive market.

The ROLAND 900, XXL with full UV applications has made its debut in Asia. Pioneer is Suzhou Dongyi Packaging in China. With the acquisition of the XXL press, the leading printing company in Suzhou has become MAN Roland’s “Sample Factory of Extra Large Format Offset Press”. Chairman of Suzhou Dongyi Packaging, Mr Cai Long Long, expects massive benefits by having such a unique and world-class setting. High-end equipment and leading technology promise quality and efficiency. According to Mr Cai, the ROLAND 900, XXL assists Suzhou Dongyi Packaging to achieve three BIG objectives: “BIG World, BIG Enterprise and BIG City”.

BIG World: having first-class equipment and a solid foundation for printing high-end products gives Suzhou Dongyi not only the ability to meet the demands of the domestic market, but also the competence to break into the international market.
BIG Enterprise: the introduction of this highly-automated machine will inject new perspectives for the company to grow bigger and become financially stronger.
BIG City: the large sized advertised products and packaging are all concentrated on the big cities, such as Shanghai, Beijing and Jiang Su, which are target markets that Suzhou Dongyi Packaging wants to cover.

Excellent quality has its worth. “This is a big investment but the intangible advantages that come with it are exceedingly great!” Mr Cai exclaimed. “The ROLAND 900, XXL has become our motivation to stride forward!”

Five new sheetfed presses

As part of its expansion plan, Yiwu Sanli Printing, one of the biggest packaging printing companies in Yiw, set up Zhejiang Sanli Printing and started to build a modern 30,000 sq. meter factory plant and a seven floor office building at Hangzhou in 2005. Core of the expansion plan is the providing of innovative and value-added service for the whole Changjiang River Delta Area. 
 
Quality, efficiency and performance are essential attributes to achieve this objective. Mr Zhu Yue Chao, Managing Director of Zhejiang Sanli Printing, decided that MAN Roland would be the solution. In January 2006, the company signed a contract with MAN Roland for the purchase of five new sheetfed presses. 
 
“Upon the completion of the installation, we will have 29 printing units of ROLAND 700 sheetfed presses. That creates the framework for a highly expandable packaging printing business,” Mr Zhu explained. “With the print solutions offered by MAN Roland, we will be able to set up a totally new commercial printing plant and create a strategic factory network across the country, which will establish ‘Sanli Printing’ as a brand name for a creative value-added service provider in print”, Mr Zhu proclaimed confidently.

Innovative ideas

Mr Kevin Murphy, CEO of Shenzen Hua Yang Printing, has very stringent requirements on presses: “First, it has to be technology from Germany as that stands for quality and assurance. Second, there has to be good sales and support service as well as the flexibility to provide different configurations according to the specific needs of our company. And last but not least, the delivery must be as quick as possible, since the business does not wait.”
 
Innovative ideas are the inspiration for new applications. “Whenever Hua Yang has a new idea for an application, MAN Roland reaches out progressively to understand the needs, and offers practical solutions”, Mr Murphy said with finality.
 
With about 4,000 employees, Hua Yang Printing has been a keen follower of MAN Roland presses for a long time. In April 2006, the installation of another five color ROLAND 700 was completed. “Our purchase decision is simply based on market demands. What I am most interested in is the capacity and the flexibility to add on new features or functions of the configurations because our customers always look for new creative ideas. The ROLAND 700 with all its most outstanding features can ensure first-class quality and maximum efficiency. Only MAN Roland really makes it!” Mr Murphy commented.
