Value Added Printing
Creative innovations for greater success in sheetfed offset printing
At IPEX in Birmingham MAN Roland is to show its strategy for successful and future-oriented sheetfed offset applications under the banner of "Value Added Printing". Generating additional benefits for its customers is one of MAN Roland's top priorities.
Mature technologies like sheetfed offset printing need value adding strategies that open up new production and product possibilities for printers and their customers. "Value Added Printing" refers to solutions at different levels: in the end product, in the production process at the press, in the complete print workflow, and in services provided.
Sheetfed offset end-products are becoming more and more attractive through inline enhancement. Coating effects, foil applications or embossing gives the end product an unmistakable, individual character that above all appeals to the emotions of the user. With the InlineFoiler on a six-colour ROLAND 700 at IPEX, MAN Roland will be showing an economical cold transfer process for metallic foils that provides unique effects that can be enhanced even further by overprinting on the foil after transfer. And generating added value within a press also applies to automating formerly manual processes, or integrating formerly separate worksteps into one process. At IPEX the new ten-colour ROLAND 500 with InlinePerfector will demonstrate the enormous productivity advantages of 5/5-colour printing, or alternatively ten-colour straight printing, in the highest quality.
Added value for the complete workflow can be generated in particular through networking and materials logistics. Examples here are networking with printnet and JDF applications, as well as the AUPASYS logistics system on a six-colour ROLAND 700 with automated pallet feeding. And added value services for print buyers can go well beyond printing as such and include data management or distribution of the print products. The basis for this is often total networking but it can also be achieved by a combination of components from several providers, as MAN Roland is to demonstrate within PrintCity.
