ROLAND 500: Highly-Productive Perfecting Sprinter

Demonstrated at a trade show for the first time: the ROLAND 500 with InlinePerfector at IPEX in Birmingham

MAN Roland is to exhibit the convertible ROLAND 500 at a trade show for the first time: a ten-unit press for straight printing and perfecting. Long perfectors offer significant additional benefits for users in all areas of sheetfed printing.

A ten-color ROLAND 500 with a sheet turning system is to be shown in Birmingham. The standard maximum sheet size is 530 × 740 mm and a sheet size of 590 × 740 mm is available as an option. Without a coating module the ROLAND 500 with InlinePerfector is available with two to ten printing units. With one coating module it can be configured with two to nine printing units, and with two coating modules with two to eight printing units. The maximum speed is 18,000 sheets per hour in straight printing mode and 15,000 sheets per hour in perfecting mode.

This is the first small-format MAN Roland press to use a single-drum sheet turning system and double-diameter impression cylinders and Transferters. This is the same design principle as the ROLAND 700 and the major advantages are the relatively flat sheet travel for substrates up to 1 mm thick, fewer sheet transfers, and it also saves space because the perfecting system does not increase press length.

The InlinePerfector offers many benefits: shorter production times, simplified organisation and logistics, no de-powdering prior to a second sheet pass, and economical advantages through shorter makereadies and fewer waste sheets, plus a lower hourly rate than two short straight presses. Besides the fully-automated mode changeover that only takes two minutes, the major features of the IPEX press are OptiPrint jackets for premium perfecting quality, ColorPilot for color measurement and control, TelePresence for fast online service support and InlineObserver for checking sheet travel by a video system.
